RSPO Sustainability Specialist

DESCRIPTION

The RSPO Sustainability Specialist will provide strategic sustainability support by developing and executing the sustainability program, objectives, initiatives, and strategies under the guidance of the Vice President of Global Sourcing. The role will focus on supporting sustainability goals in the oleochemicals and renewable materials industry, particularly in palm oil derivatives, castor oil, glycerin, preservatives, and surfactants.

RESPONSIBILITIES

•Perform sustainability audits for new and existing suppliers to evaluate sustainability performance and communicate findings to the sourcing team for supplier selection decisions.
•Responsible for Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) certification, RSPO portfolio growth, management of RSPO credits, and data to support the company’s leadership in RSPO membership.
•Lead, initiate, and manage projects aimed at advancing key sustainability goals and programs such as Sedex, EcoVadis, and other sustainability assessments.
•Contribute to the development and implementation of sustainability strategies, programs, and multi-year plans for products in the renewable materials and oleochemicals industry.
•Create and oversee the implementation of environmental and sustainability plans, strategies, and regulatory standards in alignment with company requirements.
•Support the measurement, certification, and reporting of the sustainability program’s performance against environmental sustainability laws, standards, and objectives.
•Publish annual sustainability reports and periodic updates to showcase the company’s leadership in sustainability within the oleochemicals distribution sector.
•Contribute to long-term sustainability strategies and initiatives.
•Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and implementing more efficient work processes within the sourcing group and other functions.
•Demonstrate accountability and alignment with the company’s Core Values.

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS

Minimum Requirements:
•Bachelor’s degree in a related field with relevant experience in a similar industry.
•A minimum of 5 years’ experience in mid-level sustainability leadership roles.
•Strong collaboration skills in a cross-functional team environment.
•Excellent interpersonal, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
•Self-driven, highly motivated, with a strong desire for excellence and continuous learning.
•Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems.
•Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
•Experience in sustainability audits and managing industry certifications (RSPO, Sedex, Ecovadis).
•Advanced knowledge of sustainability regulations and environmental standards.
•Proven leadership experience in developing and managing sustainability programs within the sourcing sector.
•Advanced English level.
•Availability to attend in-person training in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:
•Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism.

OTHER

•Availability to commute to Bogotá.
•Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Full-time role; candidate must be flexible with working hours based on operational needs.
•Occasional travel may be required as part of supplier audits or sustainability initiatives.
•Salary paid in local currency.
